Tattoo aftercare

Leave BAndage on for at least 2 hours. do not remove bandage until you are in a clean envIRONMENT. you can leave it on overnight, if you do remove bandage and clean tattoo first thing in the morning.

make sure hands are clean. use unscented antibacterial soap. no soaps with beads or scrubs.

  1. carefully remove banDAGE and tape. if bandage sticks get it wet with warm water and gently remove it.

  2. make a lather of soap and water with your hands, with your hands only, gently clean the tattoo removing any dried blood, ointment or plasma. do not use a washcloth or towel, hands only. rinse the tattoo gently.

  3. pat dry with a clean towel. do not wipe or scrub.

  4. once tattoo is dry apply a very small amount of aquaphor or bacitracin. apply a very thin layer and dab off any excess with a clean paper towel.

    clean your tattoo this way at least once a day for the first 3-5 days.

    daily aftercare:

    apply the aquaphor or bacitracin in a very thin layer 1-2 times a day for the first 5-7 days or until tattoo starts to flake or peel like a sunburn. when the peeling begins you can switch to a regular fragrance free lotion like lubriderm or something comparable for an additional 2 weeks. again, a very small amount. reduce lotion application if your skin breaks out.

    your tattoo may become itchy and form scabs. do not pick or scratch at tattoo.

    avoid sun, swimming or soaking for 2 weeks
